Aging Gracefully Challenge - Day 17 - Trusting God as We Age – With our Future Needs

Today we are continuing our look at Isaiah 46:3 which says “I created you and have cared for you since before you were born. I will be your God throughout your lifetime – until your hair is white with age. I made you, and I will care for you. I will carry you along and save you.”

Today we will be trusting God with our future needs.

God’s Faithfulness: As we age, it’s easy to look ahead and wonder will happen in the future. Will we be able to care for ourselves? Will we be able to maintain our physical and mental strength? Yesterday we remembered God’s faithfulness in our past. Today we will look ahead to trust God with our future needs.

As I think back on my mom’s story from Day 3 of the Challenge, I notice that God didn’t give her the full plan or answer all her questions about the future. He took her by the hand and led her one step at a time into fulfillment and prosperity. She took each step, obediently did the hard work and trusted God.

I also noticed that as her plan unfolded, the events of her life and her education began to fit together like a puzzle, with pieces coming together perfectly. Even the difficult times added depth and dimension to where she is and what she is doing today. And finally, God brought everyone and everything she needed to fulfill His plan for her. We serve the same God she serves. He will do the same for us.

Psalm 71:17 – 18 O God, You have taught me from my youth; And to this day I declare Your wondrous works. Now also when I am old and grayheaded (or maybe not grayheaded for those of us who color our hair), O God, do not forsake me, Until I declare Your strength to this generation, Your power to everyone who is to come.

Day 17 Challenge – Take 10 minutes and list your needs for the future such as companionship, finances, purpose, relationships. Pray over these and know that the God who provided in your past will provide for your future.

Tomorrow we will look at how obeying God in three areas improves our lives as we age.
