The glory of the young is their strength; the gray hair of experience is the splendor of the old. Proverbs 20:29. Wisdom is where older people have an advantage. Let’s get wise!
How do we Become Wise? In the second chapter of Proverbs, Solomon tells us five things we can do to obtain wisdom. It says:
My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding— indeed, if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
Chapter 2 tells us to:
Proverbs 2:1 – Receive God’s Word and treasure His commands
Proverbs 2:2 – Apply all our powers to the quest for it
Proverbs 2:3 – Cry out for it – ask God for it – That worked for Solomon
Proverbs 2:4 – Seek for it as for hidden treasure
Proverbs 2:5 – Fear God and obey Him
Other things we can do:
1 Corinthians 1:24 – Accept Christ and let Him lead your life. He is the Wisdom of God
Proverbs 3:21 – Hold fast to wisdom
Proverbs 3:22 – Keep God’s Words in front of our eyes. His Words are life and health
Proverbs 4:1 – Listen to our parent's wisdom
Proverbs 4:7 – The beginning of Wisdom is to get wisdom. Once you get a little bit, you want more.
