As Christians, with the promises of healing so numerous, why are we sick? Why do we see so few healings when there are so many verses that say Jesus healed everyone who came to Him?
Matthew 8:16 - When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick,
Matthew 12:15 –And great multitudes followed Him, and He healed them all.
Matthew 14:35 - The sick begged him to let them touch even the tassel of his robe, and all who did were healed.
Matthew 15:30 -A vast crowd brought Him the lame, blind, crippled, mute, and many others with physical difficulties, and they laid them before Jesus. And He healed them all.
Luke 4:40 - When the sun was setting, all those who had any that were sick with various diseases brought them to Him; and He laid His hands on every one of them and healed them.
Acts 5:16 – (Jesus’ followers also healed all) Also a multitude gathered from the surrounding cities to Jerusalem, bringing sick people and those who were tormented by unclean spirits, and they were all healed.
The verses below tell us that Jesus, on the Cross, bore our sicknesses and carried our pains, to remove them from us and 'by His stripes we have been healed'.
Isaiah 53:4-5 - Surely He has borne our griefs (sicknesses, weaknesses, and distresses) … and with the stripes [that wounded] Him we are healed and made whole.
Matthew 8:17 - And thus He fulfilled what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah, He Himself took to carry away] our weaknesses and infirmities and bore away our diseases.
1 Peter 2:24 - Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.
And in the Psalms - Who forgives every one of your iniquities, who heals each and all of your diseases; who redeems your life from the pit. Psalm 103:3
