For the next couple of days, we are going to be looking at trusting God. We will be looking at Isaiah 46:3 which says “I created you and have cared for you since before you were born. I will be your God throughout your lifetime – until your hair is white with age. I made you, and I will care for you. I will carry you along and save you.”
Today we will be remembering God’s faithfulness in our past.
God’s Faithfulness: As we age, it’s easy to look ahead and wonder what will happen in the future. Will we be able to care for ourselves? Will we be able to maintain our physical and mental strength? But remembering God’s faithfulness in our past is one way to give us assurance that yes, as He was faithful in the past, He will be faithful in the future. We never want to forget God’s goodness. We must never forget how God got us to planet Earth in the first place and then healed us, delivered us, directed us, provided financially, put up with our poor decisions, forgiven us and worked our bad decisions for our good. He has provided all that was needed in the past, He will provide all that is needed in the future. He’s got this!
Psalm 36:5 - Your steadfast love, O Lord, extends to the heavens, your faithfulness to the clouds.
Isaiah 25:1 - O Lord, You are my God; I will exalt You, I will praise Your name, for You have done wonderful things, even purposes planned of old [and fulfilled] in faithfulness and truth.
Lamentations 3:22-23 - Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.
1 Thessalonians 5:24 The one who calls you is faithful, and He will do it.
Hebrews 10:23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful.
Day 16 Challenge – Take 10 minutes and list God’s faithfulness in your past. Then replay these memories over and over in your mind for the rest of the day.
Tomorrow we will look at trusting God with our future needs. Check back tomorrow.
