This triptych is a painting based on Acts 17:28 — “In Him we live and move and have our being.”
This one was a struggle… nothing worked, nothing looked right, and I almost gave up more than once. I took some classes, tried new techniques, failed (spectacularly), painted over the canvases, and started again… three times! But finally, it’s done.
Here’s the symbolism in the painting:
The dark background = how messy and dark life feels without God. (Been there!)
The gold outlines = the beauty of life in Christ. (Happy to be here!)
First panel: vertical lines = “In Him we live” — Connected to God through Christ we have life itself, both physical and spiritual.
Second panel: horizontal lines = “and move” — through Him we have connection to others and relationships rooted in His love.
Third panel: circular lines = “and have our being” — Connected to ourselves we discover who we truly are and our purpose.
What felt like failure after failure turned into a reminder of the verse itself—our lives only come together beautifully when they’re rooted in Him.
